KELLIE + MACAE

Kellie and Mace’s wedding day was nothing short of magical. Kellie had a clear vision for her big day and wanted the photos to reflect that—more natural and documentary-style, rather than posed and perfect. They put so much thought into every detail of their wedding day, but were also open to whatever the day brought their way which gave the day an intentional and carefree feeling. The whole day felt relaxed and real- the way a wedding day should feel!!

THE BEGINNING

The getting-ready portion of the day was absolutely charming! Kellie and her girls settled into an adorable Airbnb with a subtle nautical theme. It was full of natural light and the air was buzzing with anticipation for the day. Laughter and chatter filled the whole little house, infusing the morning with relaxed, joyful energy. It was the perfect start to what turned out to be a perfect day.

THE MAIN EVENT

The ceremony at Luthy Botanical Garden in Peoria was absolutely perfect. Even though the sky threatened rain, we somehow managed to stay dry! The ceremony was stunning with colorful hydrangeas and charming white umbrellas for the guests. Kellie’s vision of an Italian Garden-inspired wedding in Central Illinois came to life beautifully. And then- Kellie and Macae became husband and wife!

JUST AFTER

After the ceremony, Kellie and Macae spent a few minutes with their family and friends with heartfelt hugs and happy tears. It was a beautiful, emotional moment before we moved on to the formal photos. Then Kellie, Macae, and I stole away for some bride and groom portraits. Kellie, having modeled for a bridal store in the past, was a pro in front of the camera (and Macae did great too!) We wrapped up that part of the day with a fun touch: a vintage Ford truck lent by Macae’s dad for their getaway. It was such a fun detail!

THE HAPPY ENDING

We headed to the reception venue at The Gateway Building by Childers. It was absolutely stunning. The space felt romantic, elegant, and grand, which perfectly reflected Kellie and Mace’s style. The night was filled with unique touches for their guests, including a caricature artist and an ice cream cart. As the evening wound down, I took some final reception flatlay and detail shots and then whisked Kellie and Mace away for one last photo op in the venue’s elevator. It was a playful and memorable way to wrap up their special day. I’m so grateful that Kellie and Macae trusted me to be the one to document their day- it was truly one I will never forget!
